Returning to Work

Today, I go back to work after eight blissful weeks of maternity leave. As sad as I am, I am not completely dreading it. First of all, I really miss my co-workers and am ready to get my students back into their normal routine. Second, my sweet momma is coming EVERY week for 2-3 days to help out and keep the boys ( a saint I tell ya.) In addition, it is just for a short time. I have three weeks with the kids, then an additional week of post planning.

And then I am finished. Not just for the summer, but for at least a year. Yes, as ink dried on my full-time contract for this year, I found out that I was pregnant with Gaines. And maybe it was all the pregnancy hormones, but working full-time and trying to be a full-time mom was so much harder than I thought. Yes, all moms are working moms, but trying to manage a career and run a household is hard...really hard. So I have decided to take some time off to enjoy motherhood.

(Excuse the lovely mess behind my lovely boy)

I do not regret my decision to work full-time this year. It gave us an extra income, which is always nice when getting use to paying a new mortgage. Even though this school year hasn't been a walk in the park, I have learned so much about dealing with co-workers, students, and parents. I have made friends who have supported me through the tough times and celebrated the happy ones. And I feel like I earned a "Badge of Honor." I worked full-time with a toddler, a husband who travels, and pregnant. I even managed to do a load of laundry or two.

Eyes!

Prayers please for the next few weeks. Even though it is short, I am going to miss my munchkins! June 3rd, here I come!
