The Glitter Guide

One of my favorite bloggers is Taylor from Sterling Style. (As you can see to the right, I stalk her blog daily.) Taylor has teamed up with another fashionable blogger, to create The Glitter Guide. Check it out! It's Friday! What real office work are you going to do today? Warning: It will suck you in, leaving you wondering how you ever lived without it.

Happy Friday!

Blake's Look for Less

Yesterday I finished day one of my summer job. It felt very adult. I wonder if it is too early to ask for a company car?

On the plane ride from Miami, I decided to read Bethany's Glamour. The cover girl was Blake Lively, and I LOVE her (despite the fact that she is 23 and is dating THE Leonardo DiCaprio.) Not only is she stunning (pretty sure her legs alone are as tall as me), a Chanel spokesmodel (dreams do come true), but she has a great sense of style.

I loved her entire spread in Glamour, but found this photograph really striking my fancy...

Now, like I said (here), I can't exactly rock the micro-mini short short, so here is my version of Blake's Look for Less..with a personal flair :)

Miami

Finally! Pictures from Miami! Upon recharging my camera and finding the cord, I realized that most of my pictures look as if they were taken by my dogs (who lack thumbs.) Don't fear, I stole some from my new friend, Hannah's Facebook. Now I present, Sus's Bachelorette Trip.
We started off the day with a trip to Walgreen's and Alvin's Island (duh) where I found the perfect gift for Lucy...
038

But there were even better purchases....

048

We then did a boat tour on Thriller (pictures later.) Then dinner and dancing. We were going to take Sus to a dance club. The funny part? We never made it to the club. We thought we were there, but we were actually in the hotel lobby dancing to the D.J. Typical.

Saturday involved some pool time/ beach time/ napping.

Then off to dinner for Saturday night...

Dinner involved a little table dancing...

Here are some more pictures I took from Hannah.

It was so EMBARRASSING that we ended up wearing the same swimsuits to the boat ride...

Our ride...

We love America.

We stayed at The Betsy Hotel, which might be the cutest hotel in South Beach. I loved the hardwoods, intimate pool, rooftop deck, and, most of all, TVs in the mirrors. Ahhhhh. Also, it was only four stories, so it was easy to take the stairs (but there was an elevator!)

Second, a big thank you to Laura. She organized the trip and made it so special for her twin sister. It was fantastic.

My Summer Vacation

Let me start by saying that tonight is our first kickball game of the season! I am captain this year-big excitement.

Second, I took the little camera to Miami, as I didn't want to seem "total tourist" walking around with it around my neck. Now, I have the problem that I cannot find the camera cord. Story of my life.

Third, I am starting a new job! Yes, yes, I am still teaching- but that is just from August to May. I decided to get some part-time work at White Horse Advisors as a receptionist. I am pretty excited to make some extra money this summer, and the hours are only from 9-2. So basically, today is my summer break. And what do I have planned for my big day off? Kennesaw for transcripts, BOE office to make sure they give me a raise,  and the dentist. Party. Animal.

Oh, and I had a dream last night about school. Um, HELLO!- Don't interrupt my summer vaycay!

How to Pack

#1- Apologies for my previous post in which one of my pair's of shoes I found came from a lovely store called- Shop Nasty Gal. I was looking for shoes that contained fringe and were under $100. I thought these shoes were SO cute! I did not realize where those adorable shoes came from, until my dear friend, Laura.

#2- I'M GOING TO MIAMI!!! And I need it! To celebrate the upcoming nuptials of my dear friend, Sus, NINETEEN of us are heading to South Beach.

What does that mean? Packing. For most people, packing might as well be a four letter world. But for me, it is a talent. Whenever I am asked to name something I am really good at, I say packing. I really do have a gift. I wanted to write a book about it, but there isn't a huge demand on books on packing...

Now I will share my talent with you (lucky day!)

002

Winnie and Lucy wanted to share in this experience. First, you need to start out with a great suitcase. All I have is a carry-on because we never go on long trips you can fit everything into a carry-on!

I love this Heys carry-on because of its color, durability, and expandable zipper!

007

And it's four wheels...makes navigating through busy places a breeze...
008
(Please ignore the dog hair. It's summer, it happens.)

This is the place where I put my shoes...
003

Then I zip it  and put make-up and toiletries on this side...
004

Swimsuits and "undergarments" here...
005

Clothes go here...

006
(Yep, Winnie and Lucy were in a bit of an argument.)

When packing shoes, PUT THEM IN BAGS! This will save your shoes. I am packing three, neutral pairs. I pair of sandals for the beach, wedges for daytime lunches, and dressy heels for nights out.

009
(Sandals- Forever21, Heels- Christian Louboutin, Wedges-Burberry)

On the plane. This can be the most difficult outfit sometimes. One time, I was trying to be uber chic on an airplane and wore a strapless, maxi dress. I guess I forgot that airplanes are DISGUSTING, and I needed fabric on every ounce of my skin. Not to mention I was freezing. I landed on the beach with a mild case of bacne and blue lips.

What I wear now: LEGGINGS!, long tee-shirt , a scarf that can double as a blanket, and easy to remove sandals.
012
(Leggings- Under Armour, Tee- American Apparel, Scarf- old? From Atlanta's airport?, Sandals- Burberry)

I L-O-V-E leggings and wear them on the reg. Someone once asked me which brand I wear. The secret is out...

011
(Courtesy of Husband's Drawer)

Evening. Yes, I will be there for only two nights. And yes, there are three dresses. Rationale? Well, my plan is to wear the one on the left and the one on the right. Problem- sometimes, when I am having my "Where did those five pounds come from days?", I don't want to wear the one on the left. And sometimes, the one on the right is a little too casual. BUT- the one in the middle is an old faithful!

Rule on Vacation: You CANNOT stress about what to wear! You are on vacation!

015
(Dresses from L-R: Zara,  Fab-rik, Hourglass Lilly; Jewelry from L-R: Unknown/Gift from Laura, Jewel Mint, Unknown/Gift from Claudia)

Three days on the beach. Two tops + two bottoms = mix match

016
(Victoria's Secret)

Day outfits. (The one on the right is plane trip home...long pants and sleeves required)
017
(Pink Tank: Zara, White Pants: GAP, Dress: J.Crew, White Jeans: Michael Kors, Tee: J.Crew/gift from Sus)

Cover-ups.
018
(L-R: Calypso St. Barth, H&M)

The H&M top has some sparkle to it...

019

Topped off with my favorite hat. Protection.

Sorry for the plethora of pictures. What can I say? I am proud of my planning. I won't be blogging tomorrow, so if you need, you can reread on Friday.

Shake Your Fringe Thing

I am proud to say I have survived two days of my class. Unfortunately, I have had to cancel all night time plans due to homework....boooo.

Just because I am in class from 8-4:30 (yep, that's right) doesn't mean that I don't check my news sources: People, E!Online, and US Weekly. (I am so worldly.)

As I scrolled through US Weekly, I found myself looking at photos from the MTV Movie Awards. And then there was Amanda Bynes. I am not a fan of her acting (didn't she "retire"?) nor am I fan of that dress on her, but MAN, I love her shoes!

How fun are those? Now I know, they are a bit over the top and taste specific, but fringe is so fun for summer. So go grab some fringe shoes (heels or flats!) and go shake your fringe thing!
