Trip to the Zoo

One day over Christmas break, we met up with our friends, Alyssa and Watts at the zoo. Alyssa is once of my favorite people. She is so positive and upbeat. The boys adore Watts as well.

I was a little nervous about how I would do in such a crowded place with all the kiddos. I ended up having to park on the street and walk to the zoo, but I made the boys ride in the double Bob and wore Mae Stanley in the Baby Bjorn. Once we got in, I let the boys walk around, and it was nice to have the stroller hold the bags.

Ugh. The smell.

After the train, we rode the Merry-Go-Round. It was a little stressful because Woody wanted to sit on the bench and Gaines wanted to ride an animal. Of course all the animals in front of the bench were taken. Alyssa got Watts on an animal right behind the bench and told me she would keep an eye on Woody. Then I couldn't get Gaines on his animal with Mae Stanley strapped to me. Once the ride started, Gaines freaked out and was trying to get off/hold on to me. We all decided that was exhausting and we needed to go home and sleep! Everyone took a great nap though and decided it was a very fun day!

(Except Momma got a parking ticket for parking illegally on the street. Weak.)

A Trip to the Zoo

Thank you for your sweet words yesterday. I didn't write that post to throw a pity party, but as a real life testimony of a mom desperately wanting to do the "right" thing. I appreciate so many kind people lifting me up when I was down!

Last Saturday was the rare combination of two wonderful things: no plans and beautiful weather. So we went to the Atlanta Zoo! I had been on a field trip before, but Brooks and the boys (well, technically, Woody was in utero) had never been. It was a tad chilly in the morning, and since not all the animals weren't out, we got in for 1/2 price! Woody and Gaines could have cared less, they were just happy to run/be pushed around.

(I think this orangutan had a hard Friday night.)

Roll Tide!

The big hit was the train. Woody love trains, but has never been on one. He was nervous/excited and was whispering "choo-choo." He kept smiling at Brooks. (Yes, I definitely cried. I love seeing him so happy. I am going to be a wreck when we go to Disney.)

Then we rode the carousel. Woody was indifferent towards it. He would smile some, but I think he was getting sleepy. However, Gaines loved it! He kept bouncing up and down, and I was so scared he was going to fall off. I kept yelling at Brooks to hold tight.

When is this gonna move?

Momma Tears, Preschool Update, Musuem, CheeksandPeepers Tears

Can we take a moment to appreciate single moms and military wives. Sheesh. I adore my children, and feel so lucky to be home with them, but I miss my husband! He lets me sleep in every morning while he deals with Woody (who has a 5:00 am wake-up time.) I hate the job that takes him away so much, but love that he has a job that provides us an income!

Preschool is still going well. Woody runs right in every day with no tears. I think he has a few sad moments through the day, but overall, I feel that he likes it. Believe it or not, I am already noticing some improvements with his speech. If you say "one," he will say "two." He says, "Hey Ma" and "Hey Da" all the time. If we are going somewhere, he will get his shoes and say, "shoo."

Since preschool takes up two days, we try to get out and do something somewhat fun the other three days. He really likes trying out new parks and going to Barnes and Nobles. Last Friday we went to The Children's Museum of Atlanta. We went about a year ago, and I wasn't overly impressed. However, they had a Groupon for it, so I decided to try it again. Woody really loved it, although I probably wouldn't recommend if your kid is over 4.

Our friends, Alyssa and Watts, joined us

I was the good mom who let her son play on the water table without an apron on. In my defense, I didn't feel like putting it on him while holding his twenty pound brother. Of course he was soaked with freezing water and walked around with his teeth chattering.

They have a baby area that I convinced Woody to play in for a bit so that I could put Peepers down.

 Extremely unimpressed with the tractor

Woody does not share my hatred of grocery shopping. Maybe I should put a toddler and a baby in that cart and see if he changes his mind.

Brooks was flying home that night , and we were all ready to see him. The majority of the time, my boys are pretty agreeable. But then there are times when they remind me they are only two and six months. When they both melt at the same time, I have two reactions. I either leave the room and cry too or I laugh hysterically and get out the camera.

Woody was so mad that I gave him fruit (instead of cookies) for a snack. He threw such a fit, and therefore, his biggest fan, Gaines, started crying. The more Woody cried, the harder Gaines cried. I was busy snapping away pictures with my cell phone, when I decided I wanted to document on my real camera.

But by the time I got it, Woody had stopped! So I calmly said, "You don't want fruit for you snack?" in order to get this reaction.

The Waffle Palace

Last night, Husband and I had a little date night to see the new play The Waffle Palace- based on real stories from the Waffle House. He was given the tickets for volunteering at the Atlanta Community Food Bank, which made for a fun (and free) date. The play was at the Horizon Theatre, which happens to be in one of my favorite places, Little Five Points (lots of great people watching.) It opens to the public on May 11th, and I highly recommend it, especially to those who are from Atlanta. It was hilarious!

The Set

Prayers appreciated- It is Field Day. It is raining. I am pregnant. Help.

News and other Ramblings

First of all, I just want everyone to know that I plan on adopting a pocket goat in the near future. Hope it loves town home living...and is down with infants.

Last night, Hubs and I joined our church's small group to watch the Braves game. We had to leave at 9:00 for bed...apparently, it was a pretty amazing game. Whoops- sorry Hubs.

In nursery/OCD project news, I do have two piece of furniture that I am working on. One is a cheap desk that I am trying to turn into a sofa table. The other is a piece for Jammer's room. Hopefully, they will be finished soon, and I can show some progress pictures!

And finally, in teacher news, tonight it our fifth grade performance. Apparently, I tend to get a little "Toddlers and Tiaras" as I put them in rows for a well-spaced danced and am yelling, "Sparkle Baby!" every five seconds...kidding (sorta.) It will be interesting to see how the Evolution of Dance plays out tonight. The Running Man is proving difficult.

Shopaholics Recycle

As I venture out to my first children's consignment sale tonight (for a child who's gender remains a mystery), I am intrigued by the "second time around" idea. I have found in my day some great deals for myself at my local Goodwill, but I just can't do the things that look like they are on their second time around (or third or fourth.)

Shopaholics Recycle takes care of this. Long story short, Katrina Weber and Elizabeth Ramirez started this company as a way to clean out their very fashionable, high-end closets, including many items that still had price tags attached to them. Shopaholics Recycle has some great deals, and I love how up-to-date they keep the site. I am eyeing many pieces- look at these deals!
